The music of the Great War | The impact of war on music

As commemorations for world war one take place, Radio 3 will be looking at its impact on music across the world.

Beginning on 23 June, to commemorate the start of World War One, Radio 3 launches Music in the Great War, a two-week season looking at the music of the time. The centre-piece of the season is a concert being broadcast live throughout Europe on 28 June in which the Vienna Philharmonic, under musical director Franz Welser-Most, joins forces in Sarajevo with the Opera Choir of the National Theatre of Sarajevo to perform music from Germany, France and Austria in a concert for peace.
