It has taken just 14 years for LSO Live, the London Symphony Orchestra’s inhouse label, to issue its 100th release, and appropriately the 13-disc album (eight SACDs, four CDs and a DVD) is a track record of the orchestra’s work with Sir Colin Davis.
Not only did the conductor have a close half-century relationship with the orchestra but also his enthusiastic support for the ground-breaking project translated into a string of magnificent recordings over the final decade of his life.
