It’s probably not the image that immediately comes to mind of a young orchestra conductor: singing away among the ranks of the local choral society. But Andrés Orozco-Estrada says he is only doing what Claudio Abbado and Zubin Mehta did before him. And finding himself a 20-year-old conducting student in Vienna, a long way from his native Colombia, he says it was the natural thing to do to immerse himself in the cultural life of the city.
