Ten years ago, when the residents of the Lower Austrian market town of Etsdorf-Haitzendorf decided to lose the tongue-twister name and rebrand with something more lyrical, they marked their fondness for the local castle by naming the town after it – Grafenegg. And it is in the Schloss’s immaculate grounds that the annual Grafenegg Festival takes place, where the Tonkünstler Orchestra makes its summer home and, for the first time this year, the European Union Youth Orchestra will be running its European Music Campus.
